Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your job is planning and directing the procurement and distribution of supplies.
Delegation of Authority
As the Central Supply Clerk, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Functions
Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained in accordance with staff and residents’ needs.
Ensure adherence to Central Supply Budget.
Place orders for necessary supplies.
Maintain an accurate accounting of supplies to include, but not limited to, oxygen canisters, durable medical equipment (air mattresses, oxygen concentrators, etc.) for both rented and facility owned equipment, OTCs.
Maintain medical supply closets with adequate stock levels.
Ensure central supply storage areas and medical supply closets are free from expired, damaged, unsafe and/or inoperable medications, supplies, and equipment.
Ensure that oxygen canisters are appropriately stored.
Ensure that oxygen supplies are maintained at appropriate levels and empty and/or damaged canisters are removed from the facility.
Verify receipt of all supplies ordered, correct shipping errors and/or ensure return of damaged or incorrect items.
Maintained an organized central supply storage area.
Distribute supplies in accordance with facility policies and need.
Supervise use of supplies to assist in indentifying theft or waste and in accordance with the facility’s Corporate Compliance Plan.
Maintain Safety Data Sheets on supplies.
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility, to assure that appropriate supplies and stock levels are properly maintained.
Follow established policies and procedures for central supply.
Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of performing the assigned duties of the Central Supply Clerk.
Other related duties and responsibilities that may be necessary, appropriate or as directed to meet the needs of this facility.
Committee Functions
Collect and assemble/compile records or reports for committee review, as requested or directed.
Actively participate in Facility QAPI and QA Committees.
Staff Development
Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs including annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs concerning hazards, communication, TB management, HIPAA/HITECH, and bloodborne pathogens and quarterly Corporate Compliance training.
Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc. as approved.
Safety and Sanitation
Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc. to your supervisor immediately.
Resident Rights
Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.
Knock before entering a resident's room.
Promote residents' right to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights as well as the right to file complaints are followed.
Working Conditions
Works in office areas, as well as throughout the facility.
Moves intermittently during work hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Works beyond normal working hours, weekends and holidays and on other shift/positions as necessary.
Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g. severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Attends and participates in continual educational programs.
Is subject to injury from falls, bums from equipment, odors, assaults from hostile residents, etc. throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies and personnel, etc.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Education Requirements
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma. Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
Experience
Computer knowledge with ordering, email and spreadsheets.
Specific Requirements
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public.
Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology.
Must have a good working knowledge of HIPAA/HITECH regulations and state privacy laws
Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with other personnel
Must possess the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Basic knowledge of math is needed.
Must be knowledgeable in use of computers and software.
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Must be dependable, self-starter and work independently.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
(With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which may include a medical and physical examination.
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 35 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 450 feet.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
